Dabbo D Films is a Uganda-based film production and distribution company co-founded by Semulema Daniel and David Cecil, who first collaborated as teacher and student before producing the critically acclaimed film Imperial Blue. Built on the belief that sustainability is essential to the future of African cinema, Dabbo D Films exists to create commercially viable African stories and build effective distribution solutions around them. Productions
Imperial Blue is a Ugandan-British Fantasy Thriller, filmed mainly in western Uganda, with post-production in London and Kampala. It premiered at Raindance Film Festival (UK) with numerous festival screenings in Africa, the USA and Europe in 2019-20. Following distribution deals with Port Royal Media (UK) and Indigenous Film (SA), Imperial Blue was offered an exclusive deal with Amazon Prime Africa. It was widely-reviewed (Rotten Tomatoes score 71%) and is now available on major online platforms, including Apple TV, Sky Film, GooglePlay and many more.
